'WHOLE' ENVIRONMENT APPROACH
This month the G8 Summit agreed the first steps towards a significant global strategy on climate change, which is positive news for the environmental industry. However the EIC (Environmental Industries Commission) warns that there is a danger of the UK Government narrowing the focus, to look at only low carbon + climate change, when the UK could be taking a lead across the WHOLE environmental industry.
“Climate change is by no means the only important environmental issue, and low-carbon is by no means the only important aspect of developing a green economy. There is a danger that the emphasis on “low carbon” will obscure other environmental and sustainability issues – forfeiting the huge economic opportunities that will be created by developing technologies to tackle waste, water and air pollution” EIC’s Policy Director, Danny Stevens
