Electricity - Overhead Transmission Lines
Role purpose:
To manage the development and completion of schemes within the agreed target cost and service delivery objectives whilst maintaining the agreed standards. The co-ordination of all on site activities, liaising with and controlling site supervisors as and when required in order to deliver the project plan in a timely and cost effective manner.
Key Accountabilities:
- To ensure that all works are performed in accordance with safety, technical and legislative policies and procedures.
- To produce the detailed plans and designs, for the work, to ensure it is completed in a safe, cost effective and technically efficient manner.
- Overall responsibility for managing the delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the detailed planning, design and management of the works on a given scheme, delivering high productivity in a safe and efficient manner, specifically: ensuring all work is conducted safely and in compliance with current company policies; ensuring high productivity and efficiency through effective control and utilisation of the contract workforce and its equipment; operating within the appropriate Safety Management systems as defined by HS(G) 65 and the Board Of Directors.
- Responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation (eg NRSWA) and that all operational staff have the appropriate competencies and authorisations to undertake works.
- Working closely with the scheme team to ensure that all projects are appropriately assessed, designed, planned, resourced and scheduled in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Responsible for KPI?s within their control and completing schemes at less than the target cost.
- Responsible for monitoring performance to ensure that all objectives are met and any problems are anticipated and resolved.
- Leading by example and, in conjunction with the SHESQ team, ensure a proactive safety culture that leads to zero incidents and accidents at all levels of operations.
- In conjunction with the Operations Management Team, share, promote and facilitate/implement technical and procedural best practice.
- Undertake site visits to ensure work is being undertaken in compliance with best practice and all policies and procedures, providing technical advice and guidance where necessary.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation related to work and produced by the contract, is completed in a timely, comprehensive and correct manner.
- Encourage and integrate innovation and cost effective working methods.
- Assist in accident investigations as requested
- Identify, develop and maintain a positive employee culture through effective communication processes and implementation of HR policies that encourage and reward appropriate behaviours and performance.
Skills Required:
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Site Delivery manager or proven experience in a Site Engineer role
- Previous experience of responsibility for site based activities
- Working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation, especially the CDM Regulations
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite including, Word, Excel, Outlook, Project or Primavera
- Good knowledge of Business Assurance Systems (Quality, Environmental and Safety)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Technical expertise relevant to overhead transmission line refurbishment and construction would be advantageous as would professional qualifications such as membership of a professional body.
Desirable
HND in an engineering discipline or similar technical qualification preferred but relevant experience could offset this requirement
Working knowledge of Temporary Works legislation
