DIRECT WINDFARM EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS POST
 
My Client requires a Construction Assistant Site Manager, to be based on site at a wind farm construction project in Aberdeenshire, assisting with managing the day to day construction of the wind farm.
 
This role will report to the Construction Site Manager, and involves the day to day running of the site, health and safety coordination, quality and environmental management, assistance with the preparation of weekly progress reports, and procurement including the preparation of specification documents as well as assistance in managing the tendering of a number of balance of plant subcontracts.
 
With a background in an electrical engineering discipline related to construction, the Construction Assistant Site Manager must be able to act independently and function as part of a small site team with technical and commercial support from in-house engineering resources and the Construction Project Manager. This role requires relevant recent experience of solid duration in a similar supervisory capacity, evidence of career progression demonstrating increased responsibility and ongoing training (particularly safety training) to support the role in construction. Experience of works containing LV, HV elements, lifting operations and the understanding of project planning and the use of proprietary software is a distinct benefit.
 
This role is front line and at times customer facing, requires excellent communication skills and the ability to form and maintain a working relationship with the client and subcontractors representatives.
 
The ability to travel, effectively manage the working day and occasionally work at other wind farm sites within the UK and Ireland is essential.

  • FLEXIBLE: Work requires multi-discipline awareness during construction from civil to electrical (including HV) to turbine works
  • PROFESSIONAL: Pride in delivering a professional job. Will contribute greatly to perception the company within the industry through contact with large numbers of contractors, landowners etc
 
The role includes supporting the Construction Site Manager in the following responsibilities:
 
  • Preparation of specification documents.
  • Managing the tendering of a number of balance of plant subcontracts.
  • Ensure compliance with the Contract requirements and Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies.
  • The on site control and co-ordination of the Sub-Contractors and for ensuring their adherence to the applicable Procedures and Method Statements, liaising with the Quality Manager and Safety Manager as necessary.
  • The maintenance and completion of the Site Quality, Inspection and Test and Environmental Plans
  • Implementing all measures necessary to ensure site safety in accordance with the Safety Policy including:
  • Maintenance and completion of the Site Safety Plan
  • Ensuring all site staff receive safety induction
  • Production of review of Sub-Contractors' Risk Assessments & Method Statements
  • Ensuring that Site Rules are established and observed
  • Chairing weekly safety meetings
  • Ensuring that First Aid, COSHH, welfare facilities are available at site
  • Liaison with the designers and compilation of as-built information
  • Contributing to the monitoring of progress at site including:
  • Preparation of weekly progress reports to the Project Manager
  • Management and administration of the various sub-contracts including:
  • Regular site progress meetings
  • Preparing instructions to Sub-Contractors and Suppliers and evaluating Sub-Contractors' claims for payment.
  • Ensuring that Technical Enquiries are processed in accordance with Technical Enquiries Procedure
  • Ensuring that any outstanding works are completed
