Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Transformers
Our client is a leading company active in the development, construction and ownership of wind farms on a global scale.
To strengthen their existing design and power systems analysis team and position the department to meet the demands of the growing on-shore and offshore wind business, they are looking to recruit a senior electrical engineer specialising in power transformers.
Main duties:
- Provide specialist support in power generation transformers
- Attend and lead design reviews
- Witness factory acceptance testing
- Investigate transformer operational failures
- Carry out quality audits
- Produce reports and review specifications
Level of responsibility:
- Lead in the technical evaluation, manufacture, test, installation and commissioning of transformers utilised in the renewable power generation industry
- Work independently with regular world wide travel
Essential requirements:
- Good degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Experience of power transformers utilised in power generation up to 200MVA, 400kV
- Understanding of transformer design principles including winding design and protection requirements
- Experience and knowledge of substation HV electrical plant
- Strong written and verbal communication (English)
- Ability to use standard desktop software (i.e. Word, Excel)
Desirable requirements:
- Familiarity with electrical system modelling software (eg. PSS/E, DIgSILENT)
- Understanding of wind turbine technology, and wind farm design practice
General:
- Full clean driving license
