Job Details

• Act as Senior Structural Design Engineer as directed by the Chief Structural Design Engineer.
• Analyse and understand contract documents, and liaise with Principal Structural Design engineers as necessary to agree design requirements.
• Produce appropriate draft and final design calculations for review by a senior/principle design engineer, so that they may be supplied and constructed in accordance with contract documents and/ or current practices.
• Assist in analysis and resolution of design problems.
• Producing scope of works for geotechnical enquiries
• Interpreting geotechnical and third party information relative to the design
• Ensure that any drawings produced represent the design as intended.
• Communicate as required with the business functions, consultant and construction teams to ensure the achievement of satisfactory progress and quality.
• Visit sites and offices to discuss design issues as appropriate, develop solutions to site queries.
• Work as Project Engineer to ensure the project demands are met
• Monitor time on projects
• Manage own work commitments to the project timescales.
• Assist in the tender process, understand and interpret scope of works.
• Liaise with appropriate personnel to achieve optimum design.
• Ensure that Procedures and Manuals provided for compliance with the appropriate Quality Assurance Standards are applied.
• Undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of objectives.
• Undertake check function for design calculations performed by other engineering colleagues.
• Undertake other such duties as may be required by the Chief Structural Design Engineer.

• Degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Good structural analysis skills, ability to solve problems from first principles
• Experience with BS5950, BS8110, BS6399.  
• Knowledge of BS8100/Lattice/Guyed structures advantageous
• Working towards IEng
