Senior Technical Safety/HSE Engineer - Oil & Gas
Location: Muscat
Salary: £Negotiable

Our client is an independent and specialist risk management consulting and training company, wholly owned by its employees and continues its rapid expansion throughout the Middle East region. They are seeking highly motivated, dynamic and influential individuals with a strong background in the process, oil and gas and petrochemical industries to join our team in Muscat.
 
Interested candidates should have a good understanding of the technical, engineering and managerial issues fundamental to safety and risk management within these industries. In addition, you will have an interest in business development and have excellent organisational and communication skills.
 
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Conducting physical effects modelling and quantitative risk assessments of process facilities using proprietary software tools and MS Excel
- Conducting qualitative risk assessments, including HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and Bow-Tie assessments
- Producing formal technical reports, Safety/HSE Cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards, methods, data and use of appropriate software
- Working at client sites on short and medium-term projects
- Travel within the GCC and worldwide in support of ongoing projects
- Managing and developing clients
- Developing new business
 
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Qualified to degree level in relevant engineering or science discipline, preferably with a second degree in  a recognised safety engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the oil & gas industry
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East oil & gas industry will be an advantage
- Experience in delivery of HSE Cases and HEMP studies
- Facilitation and /or scribing of HAZID, HAZOP, Bow-Tie and other HEMP related workshops
- Technical safety and risk assessment bias
- Working knowledge of industry standard software tools, in particular Shell Hazard Management Software tools (FRED, Shepherd)  and DNV Phast and Phast Risk
