Allen & York have recently been retained by a key Abu Dhabi government entity to recruit a new legal advisor to assume responsibility for provision of legal advice to the Secretary General and controlling all the core legal issues of the Agency.
This is a dynamic government entity which is pro-actively driving forward the environmental regulation and improvement of understanding of sustainability issues in the UAE. The legal advisor role plays a pivotal role in underpinning the work of the technical staff and the subsequent success of the organisation.
The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Advise the Secretary General on all corporate-legal matters.
- Advise the Secretary General and the Board in areas of corporate and strategic business plans for the Agency from a legal aspect.
- Craft the strategy for dealing with legal issues relevant to the Agency.
- Liaison with the related division/department regarding the various agreements/ contracts that Agency enters into.
- Brief and liaise with external lawyers for litigation cases.
To apply for this position applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Experienced lawyer (at least 15 years experience with a significant number of years spent in the UAE)
- Bi-lingual Arabic and English is a must
- Experience and knowledge of the legal governance framework of Abu Dhabi
- Experience of the Abu Dhabi government sector and its legal requirements
- Experience in legal aspects of contracts, agreements and partnerships agreements with local and international entities
