Our client is looking for an outstanding engineer to work on the design and development of high performance, custom ultrasonic products for a variety of defence and industrial applications. The role involves the specification, design and modelling of single channel transducers and multi-element arrays as well as the production and testing of prototype devices and the provision of engineering support to product manufacture in both low and high volumes.
The main responsibilities of this role are working on the design and development of high performance, custom ultrasonic products for a variety of defence and industrial applications; specification, design and modelling of single channel transducers and multi-element arrays at frequencies up to 5MHz; and production and testing of prototype devices and the provision of engineering support to product manufacture in both low and high volumes
The ideal candidate will be qualified to PhD or EngD level from a leading university in the field and with a good, relevant first degree, preferably in electronics or mechanical engineering. The candidate must also have extensive experience in modelling using Weidlinger PZFlex and an in-depth knowledge of either NDT or underwater acoustics. A detailed knowledge of conventional and piezo-composite transducer and array manufacturing methods is essential but must be industrious, have a hands-on, practical approach. Knowledge of IDL programming would also be an advantage.
