Our client a prominent engineering facilities management group are seeking a Wiltshire based Energy Manager to take responsibility for improving the energy efficiency of their account's business.
This opportunity is to effectively deliver a professional energy management operation producing sustainable savings across the range of site energy and utilities.
Changes in building regulations and an increase in legislation and European directives on emissions and efficiency have increased the need for organisations to develop carbon management and sustainability strategies by promoting energy management and performance improvement throughout the organisation;
? Encouraging the use of renewable/sustainable energy resources within an organisation or community;
? Deriving solutions for carbon management;
? Raising the profile of energy conservation.
? Developing, coordinating, and implementing the aims and objectives of strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption, e.g. Eu directives on energy performance and emissions, and monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of these policies and strategies, including coordinating annual progress reports;
? Providing technical and practical advice and offering training on energy efficiency;
? Developing promotional activities and materials to publicise particular schemes;
? Contributing to sustainable development initiatives;
? Liaising and negotiating with contractors, the building supplies industry and other relevant organisations;
? Ensuring accurate records are maintained and energy monitoring data is collected regularly;
? Preparing specifications, drawings and tender documents for building services, improvement or plant replacement work, including obtaining statutory approvals;
? Liaising with and providing technical support to building services design engineers on new and refurbishment projects regarding sustainability, energy and water conservation;
? Carrying out site inspections and energy surveys;
? Preparing detailed schedules of work/feasibility studies and cost estimates;
? Benchmarking energy consumptions against best practice guidelines;
? Keeping abreast of legislation such as the emission trading scheme and ensuring compliance;
? Identify specific training requirements for staff key to reducing energy use
? Ensure that job sheets for maintenance staff include a requirement to identify energy waste
? Prepare and present material for bi-annual energy awareness campaigns, for ?key? staff and the wider community through the organising events and workshops;
? Ensure that energy awareness training is included in new staff induction
? Set up reporting systems for energy waste and suggestions (lights on, doors open, water leaks etc.)
? Adoption of general policy to include consideration of energy consumption in all procurement
? Specification of energy performance for new buildings, major refurbishments and it projects
? Procurement policy to select efficient products only, and use of EU energy rating scheme to select a rated equipment only
? Energy manager to vet all capital funding requests to assess energy impact
? Ensure that maintenance budgets include provision for upgrades to save energy where possible
Qualifications and Experience:
? A degree in engineering, building and construction/surveying or environmental science and management is desirable
? Proven experience in energy management;
? A background in Medical Devices/Pharmaceutical Industry.
? Good communication and organisational skills with experience in the preparation of Technical Documentation - compiling reports to strict deadlines.
? Good influential negotiating skills ? experience of operating at a management level
? An ability to develop relationships quickly
